A Year in Review: Analysis and Rating of 2025 Consumer Trends

Image
Hi, and welcome back. Today we're gonna take a look at 2025 consumer trends, and I'm gonna provide a bit of analysis/insight, along with a ranking. At the end of the day, my rankings are subjective, so yeah, that's it. 1) The Matcha Boom This year saw the intense boom of matcha, specifically the iced matcha latte. It seemed like so many people were trying to get onto this trend, some of them def forcing themselves to like it. Now, I'm a matcha enjoyer, I won't lie. I fucking love matcha. That being said, my mom put me on matcha when I was a sophomore in highschool way back in 2021, so I've been around on this one. Personally, I don't care if people like matcha or not, as long as it stays in stock. What does piss me off though is that people are faking liking it, and then coming after me for being a "performative bastard" for messing with it. Let's be clear, this is my stuff, don't come at me. Anyway I'll end the angry rant there, but I...

10 Items I Want to Buy

Image
Hi, and welcome back. I've got a little free time and absolutely no money (my trip to Japan has been crazy expensive), so today I've decided to make a list of 10 items I want to buy. Enjoy! 10) Blundstone Clogs Alright, starting off hot. I realize this is a kind of a crazy take, but I love these blundstone clogs. Growing up in Vermont, everyone and their mother owned a pair of Blundies. Yes, that's me included - I love my pair so much. The only problem, as a dude, Blundie boots look a little strange with shorts. Cue the Blundstone clog; fun, playful, well made, and honestly, stylish...? I love these clogs so much and I sit around all the time plotting fits I would wear with them. When in doubt, casual cotton short and a button down. Little hat action and maybe some shades? Hell yeah. At $180 I will own these before the summer time one way or another. I need these biblically.  9) Found Workwear Horse Jacket Next up, this fantastic workwear jacket by this brand I found on ins...

A Trend I Actually Like - Dabbling in Selvedge Denim

Image
In today's society, I feel we struggle through a mix of what we personally find "cool" and what society tells us we should like. And to be honest, that fucking sucks. Why can't we enjoy trends, try new things, and leave some stupid trends for dead along the way? Trends aren't bad, they just provide guidance on a mass scale, so the really important thing is wading through the slop to find things we really like. So what do I like?     Recently, I had the opportunity to travel to Japan for a study abroad program. Nothing too crazy, just a three week trip. Coming here, I had one thing in mind: Japanese raw selvedge denim. Now I know what you're saying: "Bro you're a hypebeast, those are so trendy, pick something original", yeah whatever. I'm gonna say it now - at first I was on this train for the hype. Hey, no shame, that's how trends work after all. However, the more I leared about Japanese denim, the more convinced I was I needed to h...

Welcome

Hi, and welcome to fashion mill. Some people would aim for a large goal statement here, but honestly, I'm just here to yap. Basically, there is no specific direction with the creation of this page (other than to talk about clothes). So, I should probably introduce myself.    Hi, I'm Zev. I'm a design student and I love clothes. I wanted to create this blog as a place where I could go to talk about clothing, designs, and other related fields. What you'll soon learn about me (if anyone ever reads this - who knows) is that I like to talk, A LOT. I'll try to break things up a bit to make it easier to read, but yeah, I'm a talker. Basically, I needed a place where I could just shoot the shit about whatever is on my mind, so welcome to the unstructured mess.       Since I'm going to be running this page I might as well lay out a couple goals and interests. I'm currently an Industrial Design student, and I'm looking to get into the industry aft...
